The 12 Days of Christmas: The Twelfth Day

\”The Little Drummer Boy\” – Harry Simeone Chorale

On the twelfth day of Christmas my true love gave to me: twelve drummers drumming.

This is the final day of this tradition as well as the last number that represents perfection, holiness and completion (3, 4, 7, & 12). This is also one of the most used numbers in the Catholic Faith; 12 Apostles, 12 Tribes of Israel, 12 Gates to the New Jerusalem, and 12 Fruits of the Holy Ghost. The prayer I’ve chosen for today was picked specifically for the fact that not only is it the Apostles Creed but it is also the 12 major points of the Catholic Faith.

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and Earth. And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate; was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell and on the third day He rose again from the dead, He ascended into Heaven and sits at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty, from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and life everlasting. Amen.
