The 12 Days of Christmas: The Eighth Day

\”O Come All Ye Faithful\” – Nat King Cole

On the eighth day of Christmas my true love gave to me; eight maids a-milking.

There is only one item in the Catholic Faith that can be represented by the eight maids, and that is the 8 Beatitudes.
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven
Blessed are the meek, for they shall posses the land
Blessed are they who mourn, for they shall be comforted
Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after justice, for they shall have their fill
Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy
Blessed are the clean of heart, for they shall see God
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God
Blessed are they that suffer persecution for justice’s sake, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.

Remember O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help or sought thy intercession was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence I fly to thee, O Virgin of virgins, my mother, to thee I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my intentions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.
