On the third day of Christmas my true love gave to me: three french hens.
Today’s theme is that magic number, three. There are three kings who give Christ three presents that represents His three roles: King (gold from Melchior), Priest (frankincense from Caspar) , and Sacrifice (myrrh from Balthasar). This also represents the Holy Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Ghost; as well as the Holy Family: Joseph, Mary and Jesus. This number is the first one in the list that represents completion, perfection and holiness. There are other threes that are mentioned in the Catholic Faith (like the three theological virtues of Faith, Hope, and Love), but these are the ones that are associated the most with this time of year.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning as now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
