On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me: a partridge in a pear tree.
As you can guess from the song I selected for today, the partridge in a pear tree represents Christ in the manger or Christ on the cross (though another day is about the crucifixion). This day is all about the number one, One King, One God, One Savior, and how Jesus was the only One who could open the gates of heaven. Many other “ones” found in the Faith can be represented by the Partridge, but Jesus Christ is the major, and really is, the One.
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy Will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
